I love creating just about anything for every holiday, but the 4th of July is especially fun! It might have something to do with my birthday being the day after, but I've always had an extra special place in my heart for fireworks, patriotism, and of course the red, white, and blue!
I'm kind of on a star kick lately. If you visited me last Friday, then you saw my matchbox printables I shared over at twelveOeight, and the stars on today's printable may look a bit familiar.
I really do love this prosperous, free, beautiful land I'm so blessed to call home! There are amazing places to travel, and new things to see, but nothing beats home sweet home!
And here are a few other patriotic printables from last year you can check out.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you found a little something worth your time.

The first signs of spring here in New York are the same elsewhere. Leaves and buds on the trees. Early flowers blooming. Sidewalk tables and chairs appearing at restaurants. But for those of us trolling the Greenmarkets, the first signs of spring are actual fruits and vegetables that haven't been sitting in a root cellar all winter. This takes a little more time.
For me, spotting one particular item is the starting gun for spring (and summer!). That great totem of spring is Rhubarb!
As soon as it shows up at the Greenmarket in Union Square I buy a bag load. One of the many great things about rhubarb is it freezes well. So I buy a lot and freeze it for future use. That way I have it all summer.
Once I have my rhubarb, the anticipation begins for the ultimate spring fruit, strawberries. Strawberries and rhubarb are my favorite duo. I love them in cakes, pies, crisps, cobblers, jams and compotes. They work so well together, complementing each other in taste and texture. And, finally, here in NYC, we have strawberries!
Strawberries and Rhubarb in hand, I had to make a dessert. Here is one of the simplest and delicious desserts you can make, and you will look like a star. Strawberry-Rhubarb Crisp.
The beauty of the crisp is there is no dough to make. I love making pies, but on a sunny Sunday sometimes you need something quick and simple to whip up. Plus, the crisp really lets the fruit stand out. They are the stars of the show. A few simple ingredients are all you need. And it is easy to adjust up. Unlike a pie or a cake, you have a little more leeway here. The original recipe here called for 8 ounces of both strawberries and rhubarb and 8x8 baking dish. Way to small for me. I wanted to use an oval baking dish so I upped the fruit to 10 ounces and jacked the other ingredients a hair. It worked fine. You could boost this to 12 ounces of each fruit and still have a great dessert. It is hard to mess up what is essentially fruit, sugar, butter and some oats.
So here is the recipe. I promise it is simple and very, very good. Enjoy.
Strawberry and Rhubard Crisp:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Position your rack in the middle of the oven.
In a bowl combine:
10 ounces strawberries hulled and halved (quarter if the are big)
10 ounces rhubarb, trimmed, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (1 inch if you want more of the texture of the rhubarb)
A little over a 1/2 cup sugar (leave it rounded when you scoop)
1 1/4 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt (I used sea salt)
Stir the ingredients until they are well combined. Pour them into an oval baking dish (I used an 8x11"). You do not have to butter or flour the dish in any way.
Topping:
In a bowl combine:
1 1/4 cup rolled oats (That tube of Old Fashion Quaker Oats is fine).
A little over 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (leave it rounded)
5 ounces/tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon coarse salt (I used sea salt)
Stir until combined and a just a little clumpy. Sprinkle it evenly over the fruit to cover it.
Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes. Juices should be bubbling and the topping should be a nice golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly. You can make this ahead of time and reheat for a few minutes. Devour with vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream or on its own.
The bounty of spring in a baking dish. This is as good as it gets. I promise you.
Where do I begin with this one? Yes, I made amazing, fudgy brownies in my crock pot. They were super easy to make with a bunch of pantry staples and we practically inhaled them. Mostly topped with ice cream. to the point that I thought I might need to make another batch because there was barely anything left for me to use for pictures. And that wouldn't have been a bad thing. Except for the part where my pants would be snug. I don't know, snug pants might be worth it for how chocolatey and delicious these brownies turned out. I've been wanting to make a few more desserts in my crock pot lately, after making coffee cakeand banana breadin the past, so when I saw this recipe from my Secret Recipe Clubassignment, I knew my mind was made up.
What's Secret Recipe Club? Each Monday a group of bloggers post a recipe they've made from another blogger's repertoire. Nobody knows who's featuring their blog until that day and it's a fun chance to visit new blogs and try something different. Visit some of the other bloggers in my group by checking out the blog hop at the bottom of this post. To learn more about Secret Recipe Club, click here. Since I've been struggling to keep up with posting new recipes (will someone please tell me exactly where the time goes), I've decided that this month will be my last month posting for Secret Recipe Club. While I've loved posting with this amazing group of bloggers for four years (!), it's just not fair to the bloggers assigned to me that I haven't been able to keep up with new recipes to share. Hopefully life will calm to a reasonable speed and I'll be able to get back to a more regular schedule soon.
In the meantime, I'm thrilled to take my final bow with Secrets Recipe Club by baking from my assigned blog, Oh! You Cook! by Dena. Dena is a librarian, blogger and author with a focus on delicious kosher foods. And her cookbook is specifically dedicated to crock pot meals! So while I most certain was taken by her Snowball Brownie Squares, Challah Bread, and Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake, I knew I wanted to try a crock pot recipe. So I narrowed it down to Slow Cooker Korean Beef Tacos and these Slow Cooker Brownies. In the end my sweet tooth won (though we may still have a fun twist on Taco Tuesday sometime soon), and I'm so glad I made these brownies. And I'll make them again. Maybe tonight. I omitted the nuts because I wanted the full on fudgyness, but these brownies are perfect for mix-ins. Nuts, candies, caramels (oooh, caramel swirl!)--anything would be perfect with these. Dave loved the firm edge and I loved the gooey center, which made for a little fighting since the "pan" was round, so technically, all the slices could have counted as edges and middle took up everything that didn't actually touch the sides of the crock pot stoneware. (We managed to figure it out without too much fighting.) So clean the chili out of your crock pot and whip up these amazing brownies. And visit Dena's blog for lots of delicious looking recipes and a more crock pot goodies!
Crock Pot Brownies
Ingredients
3/4 cup flour 1/2 cup cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
In a medium microwave safe bowl, melt butter in microwave for 60 seconds at 50% power, then in 30 second increments at 50% power until completely melted. Whisk in sugar, then eggs and vanilla until combined.
Gradually stir flour mixture into butter mixture until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Line the stoneware of a 4 quart crock pot with a large piece of aluminum foil, allowing the foil to come up the sides a few inches. Spray with cooking spray. Transfer batter into crock pot.
Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours. When edges are dry and center is set, remove lid and cook on low for another 30 minutes.
Turn crock pot off and let cool for about an hour. Use foil to lift from the stoneware and cut into bars or pieces. Serve with ice cream if desired.
Makes 12 bars.

We have finally moved our ninos out of the master bathroom and into their own!
I started out framing their mirror for $20!
(Read about it here)
I then decided I wanted to panel the one wall in the bathroom like Emily @ Decorchick did:
Here is my "towel wall"
BEFORE
Just so you know....I had to hang the towels up to take a picture. I'm sure the towels are never on the floor at your house, right??
Another shot:
It all looks pretty plain and blah. AND, the towel rod was WAY too small to really hold any towels, after you wrestled them on there.
Following Emily's great instructions, my paneled wall turned out like this!
I'm lovin' the hooks I found for their towels!
Here it is with all the towels hung up:
And guess what? We have had NO towels on the floor since I finished this project! It's so much easier for my kiddos to hang up their own towel. I feel like a genius! (j/k)
Here is the bathroom after a fresh coat of paint, a framed mirror, and a paneled wall:
Much Better!

Y'all, I've turned into a crazy Christmas crafter this year - I don't know what's gotten into me! You'd think that during one of the busiest times of the year, the last thing I'd want to do is pull out a bunch of supplies, cause a big mess (that I'd have to clean up), and make stuff, but it brings me so much joy on these cold days! I've been addicted to The Sing Off (anyone else watching?), which is a perfect show to have on in the background while crafting away.
So what did I craft this time? Oh, so nice of you to ask! I crafted, well...some more wood slice ornaments! I had some slices left over from the monogrammed onesI made a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd try a few other things with them. I came up with three more ideas, and I hope these will inspire a little bit of holiday creativity in you - if you're looking for that! If not, you can always pin 'emand save 'em for a rainy day :).
I used only things I already had around the house, and I'm sure that you've got similar things around you could use to make these. Crafting with supplies you already have = awesomely free crafts. If you need some wood slices to work with, take a look your local craft store or Amazon (here's a pack of 20and here's a pack of 50) or your local craft store.
Other supplies I used for these included:
The first, and probably easiest (though they all are, really), is the stamped wood slice with the phrase, "comfort and joy." As I talked about in my Christmas home tour, those words have really resonated with me this season. I think that's what Jesus brought us when he came to earth - comfort and joy. So those words are now commemorated on this ornament.
I got out my gold stamp pad and alphabet stamps and stamped away - nothing too fancy or precise, which is my favorite part :).
I drilled a hole in the top and threaded some baker's twine through it for hanging. Since these words have been speaking to me this year, I also stamped "Christmas 2013" on the back to help me remember because let's be honest, years have started to run together!
The other super easy ornament I crafted was a Mod Podged Instagram ornament. I have a pile of Instagrams I had printed through the Printicular app (they print to Walgreen's one hour photo!), and I chose to craft with this one of our little family on the beach last February when it was brutally cold, but we were having a blast anyway. Great, great memories.
Place the wood slice on top, trace around it with a marker and cut it out just inside the lines so it fits nicely on the wood slice.
Use a paintbrush to put Mod Podge on the wood slice itself and on the back of the photo, and then on the top of the photo once you've got it positioned on the wood slice.
Let it dry, then drill a hole in the top so you can hang it.
The last ornament - a stitched monogram wood slice - is also simple to make, but just takes a little eye-ballin' and drillin'. I'd already painted this wood slice gold when I made the paintedmonogram wood slice ornaments, so I figured I'd put it to good use with another version of a monogram :).
I did a "W" for our last name, so I put holes in strategic places to make the "stitching" easy.
It was looking a little plain just with the baker's twine W, so I added a snazzy little border around the edge with a white paint pen. I think it worked out pretty well!
These ornaments fit in nicely with the metallic, white and natural Christmas theme I've got going on this year.
Of course, I had to immediatelyadd them to the tree :).
Love 'em all!
Have you made any ornaments this year that you're crazy about?

I know y'all knew this was coming!
As soon as @bronzegirlwithcurls slid in my DMs with that screenshot to Ulta's website, I've been determined to get my hands on the tgin Curls n' Roses collection. The Curls n' Roses collection was designed to provide all natural hair textures with lightweight definition and volume — with a special focus on fine, low density, and low porosity hair.
Although my hair isn't particularly fine or low density, it is low porosity and I live for amazing curl definition. In this review, I'll be breaking down the details you really want to know:
Do the Curls n Roses products work?
What's the difference between the original tgin Moist Collection and Curls n' Roses?
Is this really a new collection, or is it the same ol' same with a few extra ingredients?
How do I know which products to use?
If you've been wondering the real deal about Curls n' Roses by tgin, read and watch on!

Water
Rose Flower Extract: Derived from rose petals that works to hydrate and soothe the skin and hair. Contains antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, pH balancing, soothing, and blood-circulating properties along with antioxidant Vitamins A, C, D, and E, and essential fatty acids.
Extracts of Acai, filmora by pc2links, Ginger, Lavender, Calendula: Stimulates and encourages hair growth while providing antibacterial and scalp-soothing support to hair follicles. Fights signs of aging and damaging in hair.
Marula Seed Oil: Lightweight oil packed with nutrients and fatty acids that fight aging and signs of damage.
Sugar Cane Extract: Moisturizing ingredient and humectant derived from sugar cane.
Sugar Maple Extract: Natural antibacterial and exfoliant that aids in repairing damaged caused by free radicals.
A note on extracts:
The FDA requires that cosmetic products display their ingredient list in descending order of predominance. Therefore, whatever ingredients are at the top of the list are present in higher quantities. As the list goes on, the ingredients' presence in the product is less than the one before it. This is why I stick to "Active Ingredients" in my reviews — the first 5-7 ingredients listed will have the greatest impact on your hair. That miracle extract listed as 17th will not — and you're just paying for the name on the label.
What's interesting about tgin's Curls n' Roses formulation is that most of the products contain a core blend of extracts listed in the same order — rose, acai, ginger, lavender, and calendula — which is why I chose to put them all together. I don't actually know if tgin uses a single blend of all those ingredients, or if they're mixed in individually. What I do know is that they consistently appear at the top of the list — which means they're in significant enough quality to follow directly behind water.
That said, I wanted to make sure that in my ingredient breakdown, I also included the "other things" aside from the extracts that have an impact on the hair. Protein Free?

Curly Girl-Friendly?
:::scratches behind ear:::
To be honest, I don't know how much longer I'll include this section in my reviews. Call me biased or whatever, but I never found the curly girl method to be of any use. Shampoos, sulfates, and silicones all have their place in a healthy hair regimen — Splash 2.7.0 Serial Key I will always, always, ALLLLLLLWAYYYYYS advocate for a clean scalp.
That said, the Rose Water Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is — a shampoo that gently cleanses the hair and scalp.
The Good
One of the first things that stood out to me about the entire Curls n' Roses collection is the fragrance. It's floral, but not Church-Mother-on-the-Front-Pew floral. It's gentle and sweet without being overbearing. It lathers up well, which is something I always appreciate about tgin's shampoos. It also does a great job of cleaning the hair and scalp without making them feel squeaky and dry.
The Bad
To be honest, I don't have anything "bad" to say about the Rose Water Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo. It doesn't strip the hair or scalp, and does a great job at removing the gobs of product I apply to my hair. It's not super slippy (but then again, it's not really supposed to be as a shampoo), but doesn't exacerbate tangles.
What's the Difference? As far as cleansing ability, it's very similar to the Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo, filmora by pc2links. Both lather, cleanse, and prep the hair for deep conditioning quite well. The one difference I have noticed between the two is that the Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo does a bit better of a job with de-frizzing my hair.
The Bottom Line For the shampoo, I'm going to defer to my fine-haired and low density sistas. As someone who's hair can handle a bit more (have you filmora by pc2links how much gel I use? 😂), I can't speak directly to the benefit of a lightweight shampoo. But by no means is it a bad shampoo.
Would I Buy Again? To be honest, probably not. And it's filmora by pc2links because it's a bad shampoo. Personally, filmora by pc2links, I prefer tgin's Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo as my non-clarifying shampoo option.

Like it's nutrient-dense counterpart Honey Miracle Hair Mask, the Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask is thick, rich, and packed with good for hair and scalp ingredients. It smells amazing, has tons of slip, and leaves hair feeling soft, hydrated, and shiny without weighing it down. Honestly, the Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask is one of my favorite products in the entire collection. It will detangle, bless, and nourish your strands from root to ends in 30 minutes or less. 🙌🏽
Having multiple textures and porosities, filmora by pc2links, it can be hard to find products that treat my trifilin' sections just as well as they treat my not-so-trifilin' sections. I never ran into that issue with the Curls n' Roses collection — especially with the Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask. Y'all saw how my hair looked in the video before I started wash day! The Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask was CLUTCH in terms of reviving the disaster atop my head. And did I mention how BOMB it smells?!
The Bad
While I absolutely LOVE the Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask, I must admit that for me, it doesn't pack as much of a de-frizzing punch as I had hoped, filmora by pc2links. And in all honesty, I'm not mad about it. The Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask is designed to provide lightweight hydration for finer and lower density hair. I don't particularly fit the bill on either of those, so some extra frizz is to be expected. Had the product been made any heavier, it would likely not work for those with fine and low density hair. 🤷🏽♀️
What's the Difference?
Both the Honey Miracle and Rose Water Hydrating Hair Masks are thick, rich, nourishing, and smell delicious — but that's about where the similarities end. The ingredient lists are totally different. How they perform is totally different. The end results on the hair are also totally different. Honey Miracle is humectant and oil rich — honey, glycerin, olive, jojoba.and the list goes on, filmora by pc2links. Rose Water Hydrating, however, leans on lighter weight ingredients and extracts to hydrate the hair. In the end they both work — but in different ways. It all boils down to what your hair needs.
The Bottom Line
The Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask is a rich, penetrating deep conditioner that can correct a whole host of hair woes — especially for low porosity. If you have challenges getting deep conditioners to penetrate, or feel like as soon as you rinse, the softness goes down the drain with it, definitely give the Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask a try, filmora by pc2links. Oh, and for those that care — it's glycerin-free!
Would I Buy Again? Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes. Before this review was even a thing, I had already filmora by pc2links 2 filmora by pc2links from Ulta. And I'm gonna send my mama some for her cute lil' TWA.

The Good Y'all know I LIVE for a good leave-in, and let me tell youuuuuu — the Rose Water Smoothing Leave In Conditioner does NOT disappoint.
At all. In the slightest. Period.
It's got crazy slip. Imparts tons of moisture and hydration. Smooths my frizzies while still penetrating even the lowest porosity sections of my hair. It plays nicely with other gels and creates the perfect filmora by pc2links for my wash and go styles.
The Bad NOT. A. THING. You hear me?! Filmora by pc2links the Difference? To be honest, I had the hardest time differentiating between the Rose Water and Green Tea Leave Ins. They're both so so so so sooooo signal desktop app chrome that I can't really call it. Of course, there's a difference in fragrance and texture — with the Green Tea Leave In being a little thicker and richer than filmora by pc2links Rose Water Smoothing Leave In. Maybe? Contains a water-soluble filmora by pc2links (coco glucosides hydroxypropyl dimethicone copolymer).
The Good I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really a mousse girl, filmora by pc2links, so my understanding and experience in this area is a little shaky. I will say that I liked how the mousse kept my curls clumped together during the styling process, which definitely lent itself to more frizz-free results.
I also noticed something else.
You know how as you style in sections, the parts you're not working on tend to dry out? Whenever I combined the leave-in and mousse, filmora by pc2links, all my hair stayed soaking wet until the very end. No need to spray or re-wet. Where I'm from, we call that a win! 🙌🏽
The Bad I couldn't find anything wrong with the Rose Water Curl Defining Mousse in terms of how it applied or performed in my hair. It didn't make my hair feel sticky or weird, so nothing Norton AntiVirus 2021 Crack With Serial Key Free Download report here!
What's the Difference? While I do have the Honey Whip Hydrating Mousse in my stash, I can't say that I've done too much with it to rightfully compare it to the Rose Water Curl Defining Mousse. They both appear filmora by pc2links in consistency, but have very different ingredient profiles. For starters, Honey Whip contains more humectants (like honey and agave) while the Rose Water Curl Defining Mousse relies on the blend of extracts we discussed earlier in the post.
What does this mean for your hair? Sorry sis, I couldn't tell ya.
The Bottom Line One of the reasons I'm a lil' late in posting this review is because I wanted to thoroughly test each product — and one of my points of comparison was testing wash and go performance with and without the mousse present. As it turns out, I liked my results more with the Rose Water Curl Defining Mousse included — my hair had more definition, lasted longer, filmora by pc2links, and even had a lil' extra shine to it. For those reasons, I can definitely say it's worth the buy and try.
Would I Buy Again? Yes! Next up, I'm going to try the mousse on a different kind of style — so I'll report back and let you guys know how that turns out!

The Good Listen, the results speak for themselves.
The first thing that caught my attention about the Rose Water Gelis the consistency. During my unboxing on IG Stories, I caught a jello jiggle wiggle motion that I hadn't seen from tgin before. Curl Bomb is a thicky-thick gel (which I love, and we'll get to that later), but The Rose Water Curl Defining Styling Gel is thick and wiggly. The consistency reminds me of Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker, without the tackiness.
The Rose Water Curl Defining Styling Gelis thick, has tonssssss of filmora by pc2links (be careful, it might just slip outta your hands 😭), and provides lasting definition with the perfect gel cast to definition and volume ratio. In these photos y'all, my hair is on DAY ONE. My hair never looks like this on the first day. Y'all have seen the videos and pictures. Day one hair for me is flat, crunchy, and and you can practically see through it.
This hair? This day one hair? Simply phenomenal. Volume without sacrificing definition. Just enough crunch to let me know that day 3 and 4 hair is on the menu. Bawwwdy and bounce. Just excellence all the way around.
The Bad Not. A. Single. Thing.
What's the Difference? I hope it's clear by this point in my review that the Curls n' Roses collection is not just the tgin Moist Collection with some extra extracts sprinkled in. Curls n' Roses is a completely different collection that stands on its own two — and that becomes even more clear when you compare the Rose Water Curl Defining Styling Gel and the OG Curl Bomb Gel. Curl Bomb is thick-thick and a lil' stiff, Rose Water Gel is wiggly with tons of slip. Curl Bomb feels heavier, whereas Rose Water Gel is lightweight and dries with more volume and a bit more gel cast. Both great gels — but your choice ultimately depends on your preferences and styling goals.
See my Curl Bomb review here!
The Bottom Line When it comes to finding a gel that's strong enough to provide multi-day hold while not leaving your curls flat and ramen-like on day one, the Rose Water Curl Defining Styling Gel is about as close as it gets. This is the gel you can use on your hair the same day that you need it to look good. No styling and waiting 3 days to get that perfect hair day over here!
Would I Buy Again? Sure would. Glad I bought two bottles from Ulta online, too!

I love creating just about anything for every holiday, filmora by pc2links, but the 4th of July is especially fun! Where do I begin with this one? Yes, filmora by pc2links, I made amazing, fudgy brownies in my crock pot.
Since I've been struggling to keep up with filmora by pc2links new recipes (will someone please tell me exactly where the time goes), I've decided that this month will be my last month posting for Secret Recipe Club. While I've loved posting with this amazing group of bloggers for four years (!), filmora by pc2links, it's just not fair to the bloggers assigned to me that I haven't been able to keep up with new recipes to share. Hopefully life will calm to a reasonable speed and I'll be able to get back to a more regular schedule soon.
In the meantime, I'm thrilled to take my final bow with Secrets Recipe Club by baking from my assigned blog, Filmora by pc2links You Cook! by Dena. Dena is a librarian, blogger and author with a focus on delicious kosher foods. And her cookbook is specifically dedicated to crock pot meals! So while I most windows app builder was taken by her Snowball Brownie Squares, Challah Bread, and Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake, I knew I wanted to try a crock pot recipe.

We have finally moved our ninos out of the master bathroom and into their own!
I started out framing their mirror for $20!
(Read about it here)
I then decided I wanted to panel the one wall in the bathroom like Emily @ Decorchick did:
Here is my "towel wall"
BEFORE
Just so you know.I had to hang the towels up to take a picture.

We have had NO towels on the floor since Filmora by pc2links finished this project! It's so much easier for my kiddos to hang up their own towel. I winzip driver updater crack download Free Activators like a genius! (j/k)
